Walterius,

I would recommend routing the track outputs you wish to compress
through an FX SEND instead of routing them directly to a Bus. You
can create a new FX Send by either clicking on the “Insert Assignable
FX” button in the Mixer toolbar, or by dropping plug-ins into an
empty area of the mixer. To assign each track’s output to the FX
Send, click on the pan/FX assign popup to the left of the bottom
fader on the track and select “FX 1”. Now set the FX 1 send level to
your taste. Right –clicking on this fader allows you to set the send
a pre or post volume fader. I would recommend setting this to pre-
fader and then setting the track output volume to minimum.

The purpose of Bus FX is to allow final limiting/dithering just
before sending the audio to your sound card. Dithering in particular
makes little sense as a pre-bus-fader effect because as you adjust
the Bus Volume, you would also be adjusting the dither volume.

Thanks Matt!
thats o.k., but for example: if i have 4 tracks with choir(mono) and
i would like to pan it full stereo, and compress it(together in a
stereocompressor) and send this into a reverb, i found out that this
is not possible in assignable-fx because ass.fx is not stereo.
maybe you have again ideas.
i can only suggest to set bus-fx pre or you can route one bus into
another, like a real mixer with subgroups and a masterfeder.
thanks a lot for help

Assignable FX are stereo. (Actually all FX in Vegas are treated as
stereo.)

What makes you to say they are not?

Vegas actually treats all busses as sub busses. Your audio
hardware/save as 'file' is considered the master bus. All main
busses are peers, and therefore can't be assigned to each other.

I could see having a "Master-L/R" bus that could have the sub busses
routed.

Thanks Peter your totally right. i apollogize that i acused vegas to
have mono-sends.
So thats the solution for now.
It would be really great to have a Masterbus for controlling the sum
of the busses and to have a project already run through Maseringfxes.
So thanks again.
God bless you.

I've tried setting up projects with a "fake" master bus by setting up
the project with one master bus, and then creating effect busses for
the groups of tracks I wanted to sum, and setting all effects faders
to pre. If I didn't want a effect on a bus, I'd put in the Vegas
track EQ, which shouldn't use any CPU bandwidth if no bands are
activated.

This had a few setbacks, the main one being that if I wanted to add
an effect to one track and then add that effected track to a bus, I
couldn't do it. But now that the Amulet plugin lets me use ASIO
plugins as track effects, this isn't much of a problem.

HI Vern!
Thats a good idea and track-eq does not really use cpu-power.
But it would be nice to have this easier.

I ordered Amulet already but that will still not solve the problem
perfectly. A Master L-R would be really great.

Vern-thanks for your tipp.
