Button highlight tips?

Hey,

Any tips on making custom button highlights? I have my .tif bg, which looks great for the menu, but the highlight gives me problems. Looks ok on my computer preview, but on the project, it seems to have interference around it. I've tried a star and circle shape next to my word selection, with some "glow" around the shape, and with just black on white. Saved on .pngs . I don't want to have to go with just a rectangle over the words.

Any help?

Is this problem occuring on the actual final DVD? I get a little interference around masked icons sometimes but they come out fine on the TV. I keep mine rather small and set the primary color alpha around 235. Don't know if this is too light for what your doing.

Making them smaller seems to help with some of the aliasing around the edges.
