Buying New System - AMD question

I am about to purchase a new system with an AMD Athlon XP 2100+ chipset (~ 2.1 to 2.2 GHZ). The machine comes with 256MB DDR Ram, ATI Radeon 7000 Pro video card, Gigabyte GA7-VTX motherboard, WinXP home OS, 80GB ATA100 7200 RPM hard drive. From what I can tell from previous posts, this should work fine. I am now using an Intel PIII 500MHZ chip and my only concern was using the AMD. Any suggestions?

thanks
dave

Get more RAM. Crucial's having a special right now, 256mb for $60-free 2nd day air. Check it out at techbargains.com. Extra RAM real handy for dynamic ram previews.

You might eventually want to add a second hard-drive. I have an XP 1800 with a Gigabyte mobo, 1GB DDR DRAM and three drives, which works very well.

A pro who needs maximum efficiency ought to use a dual-CPU PC, to properly run multiple instances of VV at the same time.

I am pulling out my 40gig drive from my old machine to put in also. I would love to get the new 160 gig one, but I was pushing it with the wife to get this much...! :)
