Buying Vocal Eraser Plugin separately

simon27 wrote on 3/13/2009, 12:32 PM
Hi,

I've recently upgraded to VMS Platinum Pro 9 but didn't notice the disclaimer about the Vocal Eraser Plugin not being included in the bundled copy of Sound Forge Audio Studio (my fault for not reading all the info. properly).

I'm happy to pay for the plug-in but haven't been able to find anywhere on the Sony or IzoTope websites that allows you to purchase just the plug-in.

Does anyone have any ideas or, better still, links to where I can buy it?

Thanks in advance.

Simon

Contact Customer Service - they may be able to swing you a deal. I have Sound Forge 9 and wanted it too, and they were able to get me it at a discount.

Thanks for that - i'll give it a go.

I did try buying the upgrade to "full" Sound Forge Audio Studio 9 (including the plug in) but it won't accept the serial number from the bundle as being eligible for upgrade (and I don't have an earlier version).

I'll see what CS say.

Thanks again.

I'm not sure why you didn't get the Vocal Eraser when you bought VMS 9 Platinum Pro (your comment above regarding Sony's disclaimer). When I bought VMS 9 Platinum Pro in August 2008, the Vocal Eraser did come with my copy of Sound Forge Home Studio 9. I'm not sure what changed in the past several months. I installed the new upgrade (SFHS 9.0c to 9.0d) yesterday and the Vocal Eraser still works. Not sure why Sony decided to not include it anymore.

What serial number did you need or how did you get it to work with SVMSPP9?

Was it included and activated on the install CDs?

Since it was in August that I installed the software, I don't remember if I had to add a serial number or not. I keep a folder on my hard drive where I store the Sony updates to all the software that came on the DVD. In that folder, there is a file "sfas9_vocaleraser.exe" (2.4MBytes) that was probably used to install the plugin. I decided to browse the Sony DVD and can't find that file, so it either came from one of the .cab files as it installed or I downloaded it from the Sony site. Google that file name and see if you can find it on one of Sony's sites. That may not even be the needed file if the install came from a .cab file during installation. I just don't remember. I do know that vocal eraser works on my system because I've used it several times. I also have Acid Music Studio 6 and vocal eraser is not an option anywhere in its menus, so the plugin did not come from that package.

Mike,

I actually had downloaded that from the Sony website, but it won't authorize using the Sound Forge Audio Studio s/n.

It isn't critical for me, but it would have been nice to have an easy solution!

I don't know what else to say. Perhaps Sony changed the code in the file that is now on their download site. Perhaps it's not the exact same file that I have. I just don't know. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. It seems that as we users make more strides in getting Sony to give us more things, they take some away, too.
