Camcorder - Canon GL1 [US] = XM1 [UK]

Has anybody had experience of the above? Or better still the newly - released June '02 - the Canon GL2? This may come out in the UK as the upgrade to the XM1 as the XM2.

I don't have any experience with the GL2, but I have used the GL1. The quality of video from the GL1 is outstanding. I've also used a Canon ZR-10 and a Panasonic (I forget the model). I don't actually own a GL1 (I'm too poor) but I used to use one in my old job. Examples of the Canon's output can be found at http://www.broadsideonline.com albeit in low res.
