Looking to buy a new camera under $5000.00. What is the best? Canon XL-2? Anything Sony? I would appreciate any help on this subject as this is a big purchase for me and is coming directly out of my wallet for my video projects. Thanks.

Horrified how light it was?? The heavier Canon XL series cameras have that nifty little shoulder brace, which makes holding it much easier. The Sony doesn't. I wouldn't want a heavier camera that I have to hold up in front of my face all day.

I understand that somebody has hacked into the FX but I can't find the reference. Not at all sure that I'd want to do it, but like that mod for demountable lenses, it would be fun to see what had been done. DSE? You mentioned it!

I cant hold a heavy or light cam steady without a shouder brace of some sort, my fx is fitted with a pretty neat shoulder mount .
