Can I convert all cuts to dissolves

I have 4 short videos (45 seconds each) composed of about 30 clips each. Except for a couple of wipe transitions, they are all cuts that I'd like to convert to dissolves without having to manually stretch each clip to be able to provide an overlap for the dissolve.

Is it possible to do this and how? thanks a lot.

Quickest way - via a script

Reasonably quick:

Click on the first event then,

1) CTRL-ALT-RightArrow
2) "/" on the numeric keypad
3) CTRL-ALT-RightArrow
4) Repeat to #1 until done (yes, you need TWO CTRL-ALT-RightArrow's between all subsequent events)

thanks to you Jetv - as I'm following your instructions, i JUST noticed that on my Vegas keyboard there are short-cut keys for converting to cuts, dissolves and wipes (only had this keyboard for about a year!).

Anyway, works great except that the dissolves are way too long for this particular project of extremely short clips, but will be sure to make use of those timesaving keys in future projects. thanks again.

Lili: I'm not at my editing computer, but I seem to recall that you can set the length of dissolves in "Preferences."

Options - Preferences - Editing tab

In the "Cut to overlap conversion" section change the "Amount" to be the length of the transition you want.
