Can I reopen a DVD I burned & Re-Edit in Vegas?

I have created several DVD's using Vegas & DVD-A. I am getting better at this
video editing game and also purchased a few software tools such as After Effects,
Ulead Cool 3d Studio and am waiting for my Smartsound Sonicfire Pro music software.

By the way, I always burn the project to a DVD+RW disk, if I'm happy with the
video I then burn to DVD-R and then DELETE all files from my computer that pertain
to that video!

Thanks,

Alex

You can do this if you really need to. You can import the VOB file on the DVD into an MPEG file on your hard drive (or better yet into an AVI file). However, since the video has already been compressed into MPEG, you'll take a noticeable quality loss by doing this. It may be acceptable, but then again it may not be. Editing MPEG material is never a good way to go.

It would be far better to use the original source files. Do you still have the original tapes you shot? If you do and you saved the .veg & .vidcap files then it's a simple matter of recapturing them and opening up the .veg file again.

So what you are telling me is that if I had the .veg and .vidcap files for that video
all I have to do is recapture the miniDV tapes, open Vegas, open the .veg file and it's there?

The .veg and .vidcap files don't take up much disk space do they? Perhaps I should
create an archive folder and save these files?

Thanks

That would be a most excellent idea!
