Can I reuse a file from video_ts folder?

I would like to take a segment from a DVD I previously made and include it in one that I am currently making. I do not have the original footage and I do not want to "rip" the content and reencode because I don't want to have the loss of quality. Is it possible with DVDA (or another authoring program) to include that in the final DVD w/o having to do any reencoding?

I also a related questions if you are up for it:
1-could you use this same idea to combine two dvd's into one hd dvd when they come available?
thanks,
Cason

you will have to rip the content (rip just means taking it from the disk - which of course you have to do) - but you dont have to re-encode .... just de-multiplex the vob files to a stream of mpeg2 and ac3 ....

you can do this with dvd decrypter or other tools ... but i'll caution you to not try to do only one vob, do the whole thing or you will have an issue with your audio (broken header and non sync is likely - the broken header can be fixed with ac3fix though)

if you use the contnt in vegas - it will re-encode it .. you will have to edit it in mpeg2vcr instead and then use the material in dvda3

with some dvd authoring apps - you can just use the vob files as is ..
