Can I save all my settings?

I recorded a concert last weekend. Actually two shows. The shows were the same, and once I get the list from the director I'll be mixing them down. I expect I'll be doing some of the songs from one show, and some from the other. I'll have to start with one show or the other, and then when I get the sound I want move all that to the other show.

Each show has its own timeline. Is there a way I can save all the channel settings for all of the channels on one show and export them to the other? I know I can save the fx chains, etc., but I still have to flip back and forth to get the pan settings, gain levels, bus assignments, etc. all the same, or write them all down.

Hmmm, I suppose I could get everything all set up in one show, delete all the tracks, and import all the tracks from the other timeline. One would think there would be a better way though.

If you've recorded two separate performances, I can't think of anything that would be close enough to being the same that you would want to duplicate the settings. Even if the recording setup was exactly the same, the performances themselves and room attributes will differ enough to make the settings you mention inapplicable, in my experience. You might use the settings from the first show as a starting point, but that's all it would be.

If your goal is to take material from two performances and make it sound like it was one performance, you are going to be making lots of adjustments, and those are per track, not global.

Yes, it won't be exactly the same between shows, but it won't be so different either. Being able to use the rough set from one show on the other as a starting point would save a lot of time - especially if there is a quick way to duplicate the mix from one timeline to another. I don't think there is, but perhaps I just missed it. I might try dumping the events from the one I roughed in, and importing the those from the other show. That would still save a lot of time over having to cagtalog and reapply all the settings.

you can open two vegas projects side by side and drag and drop from one timeline onto the other, then do a save as...
or save your project that has the settings you need as a new project name and re import the media of the second performance.
