Can I set a default transition for an entire track ?

I have a sequence of 120 Jpegs which I've dumped onto a single timeline. I've set transition times and hold time in the preferences, and then added "black&white" in the video track FX. All very simple :)

But is there anyway I can now change the default transition effect ? I've tried all the usual (intuitive) drag 'n drop things, but with no luck ...

Unfortunately - after a few render tests - it seems to me that while the editing and production of a slideshow in VV3 is fantastically fast, the actual output is dismal and the file size gigantic.

Straight back to Flash for my slideshows methinks.

What a shame (and frankly I'm amazed too) . . . I hope this is improved.

Alas, VV3 has no way to change the default transition. Except for the two that are the only necessary ones in video - a cut or a dissolve. There are several windows slideshow makers that will pop all kinds of silly transitions between pics but that makes for really bad video. Right tool for the job and all.

However, if you decide to make video photo montages, aside from the above advice (don't overuse fancy transitions), let me note you really only have to do this once if you create a template. My photo template is up to 220 pics now with pans/zooms every 3rd pic and a fancy transition every 8th-10th (starting at about #50).

Pardon me in replying to such an old topic. But Control Z states something that really interests me.

He said "My photo template is up to 220 pics now with pans/zooms every 3rd pic and a fancy transition every 8th-10th (starting at about #50)."

I am brand new to Vegas (but an experienced Acid/Sonar user), I am constructing slideshows and I would like to know how you create your templates for up to 220 pics with pans/zooms and transitions. Do simply open a project that has a bunch of pics in it already or what? I love templates and I really need to templateize my slideshow production. Thanks

I'm sure Control-Z is around to answer himself, but he may not be on GMT. So while he's sleeping it off, here's my thought:
Dedicate one folder to the photo montage media. Name your images in a numbered sequence (oo1.jpg, 002.jpg, 003.jpg ...). Create the transitions and whatever. Save the Veg.
Next time, replace the images with another set, named in the same manner, and you're almost home, but for a little tweaking here and there.

There IS a way (a workaround that is...), using macros commands (you'll have to set it but it works). See the Marty Hedler's site,it's :

This was discussed here on the forum not so many days ago so you may have a check too, maybe there's more options...
