Can Movie Studio 14 Platinum handle Gopro Hero7 HEVC files on i7-4770

I'm looking at upgrading my Hero5 Black to Hero7 Black this week, but noticed that Hero7 Black seems to use H.265/HEVC for all video modes (even 1080), and the gopro help page advises HEVC video can only be played back on Win10/Kaby Lake CPU PCs ?

I don't want the hassle of having to convert files just to edit, so is anyone using MS14 with HEVC files on an older PC, I only shoot 1080 (mostly 1080/60) so if this can't edit on my PC, I won't bother with Hero7 Black ;)

I think Movie Studio 14 does not support HEVC. I can't import HEVC files into MS14.

I just ensured – HEVC support came with Movie Studio 15.

I'm also looking for upgrading my broken YI4k+ to Gopro Hero7 Black. I also have the same pc (i7-4770) but use VMS15. Editing YI4k+ recordings (in H.264, 2k7p48 or 4kp24) is no problem on my pc. I don't have experience with editing H.265 video as also Gopro Hero6 produces, but I could live with the fact that I have to work with proxies till I get a newer pc.

So, I´m also interested in the answer to your question.

Looking into this it sounds like Hero7 Black cannot playback its own video on screen OR show preview while recording due to HEVC overhead, so this to me are the two reasons to have a screen on an action camera, so this makes no sense at all ?

Updating Movie Studio wouldn't be the end of the world, but preconverting every video file is a massive pita for zero benefit as far as I can see ? Why would Gopro force HEVC on 1080 30/60 ??

Ok thanks for this extra info.
I did not know that because I'm happy with my GoPro 5 Hero Black with 2,7K 50p AVC video and lineair plus stabilisation settings and reading this that will stay for a certain ( maybe a long) time.
