can not open my .vf file project

I performed several hours of edits and saved the file on c: drive, then copied the file on to a memory/flash disk and tried to open it using a different computer. It opened fine with the exception of it having trouble locating some of the media files used in the edit. But I loaded all the media files on the memory stick and re-shuffled the location of the original file onto the C: drive of the new computer. Now the problem is that when I try to open the project file with a .vf extension, vegas movie studio HD Platinum 11 tells me that the application does not support this file type, even though it shows it is a .vf file and that the vegas software icon is displayed as the software that will open this project. What did I do wrong and how can I fix it?

Thanks a bunch for the feedback

Is the version of Vegas on the different computer the same as on your primary one? What you describe makes perfect sense if there is a newer version on the different computer. If that is the case you cannot go back to an older version.
