I am using Intel Duo core 6300 and 32 bit Vista. The rendering of AVCHD 1920 x 1080 crash every time. It is impossible to render by Vagas Movie Studio Platinum 9a.
Is some software fault in Vegas?
"yep... still no solution and no sony admin/moderator reply to this post... "
This is a user forum provided by Sony. Peers will respond when they are able to make constructive responses, in most cases. If you need a direct response from Technical Support, then you should contact them through the support link at the top of this page.

agreed on that.... but the issue has been open since august 2008, no one from sony commented on this... I already open a ticket... still waiting...
Next time you make a comment, read the whole thread and analyze. since it is a user forum as you mentioned it... aren't we allowed to express ourselves? now if you don't have any useful information for us, leave this thread alone.

Once again, this is probably the wrong venue in which to expect a technical response from Sony. If this is not useful information to you, as a first day user, then I can only suggest that you follow your own advice, and continue to express yourself positively. Welcome!
This nigth I made two experiments after collecting all the info from other thread talking about rendering and burning HD video:
First Try: I choose a MainConcept (MPEG-2) Option and then the Blu Ray Template 1980x1080-50i video stream only; I got a 16 mins video fully rendered in a very fast way.
Second Try: reduced the number of rendering thread to 1, increased the preview memory to 256Mb, Switched off the preview window, then again Sony AVC and Sony AVCHD 1980x1080-50i 5.1 audio, then I went to sleep. This morning (after 8 hours) I got the software running (the elapsed time was increasing) but hanged at 86%. After requesting to cancel the operation it hanged definetively....
This night I will try to render with Sony AVCHD 1980x1080-50i but stereo Audio...
I did a test last night again. this time I played with some images and different size. I used a 10mp photo and tried to render in 1920x1080; no video in it. It crashed right away, note that the picture size is 3680x2760 and was taken with my Sony HDR-SR12.
Now, I tried with the same picture but this time, using photoshop, I reduce the size to exactly 55%, 2024x1518. Tried to render again, crashed after 15 sec. Then I tried to render the same thing but in 1440x1080(5.1). It worked and the rendering took about 5 mintues for about 15 seconds of still image fading in and out.
So far it seems to be a flaw with the memory manager of SMS and using still image, because if I render the video only, it renders fine even in 1920x1080. My next step is to add some transitions and some effects on the picstures and see if that will be causing more issues.
NB: All test have been done using only 1 thread, 24mb of Dynamic Ram for preview. I also force the use of only 1 processor using the Windows Task Manager and setting the affinity to CPU 0 only. I will be conducting more tests by adding CPUs later on.
I did this tests on the same video that always crash...
Settings: 1 thread, 256MB of Preview Ram, Preview Switched ON.
Select Sony AVC Coded then Blu Ray Template 1920x1080-50i video stream only and it worked till the end... 16mins of video. Then rendered the sound side (coded ac3). Then using TsMuxer muxing all together... So doing I got an m2ts file working perfectly...
In my opinion the problem is in the audio side, each time I render a video the software works, otherwise it crash...
looking at the internet there is a lot of software and procedure using Nero to get an AVCHD DVD or a Blu Ray....
I think I will go on with this procedure till a new upgrade of the Vegas hoping for a bug fix....
I'm done buying Sony Software. Theres no reason the fix should have taken this long. Guess it dosnt care about it's customers! The posts here are always the same. Just different people buying the same software with the same problems over the past year.
Im having the same problem. Ive been importing the AVCHD files using the Handycam Utility that came with my Sony Camcorder. And I had no problems. Today I was filming and instead of using the Handycam utility I used Vegas to directly import it. Now I cannot render my video. It plays fine in vegas but when i render it it always hangs up around 50%. So could it be that the problem is importing from Vegas?
When using the Handycam I would import to a folder...and then import that into Vegas and I had no problems. Now im in trouble cause I dont know how to fix it and I deleted the videos off the camcorder so I have no way of reimporting them.
Update....This ordeal has lasted ALL DAY. I finally got what I needed.
Instead of rendering to WMV I rendered to MOV. It finished and then I imported the MOV file and rendered that to WMV. So it was a long work around but everything worked and I finished my project thankfully after almost losing my sanity
