Can not transf MOV files to Studio8

rafirivera wrote on 11/8/2008, 4:01 PM
Maybe someone asked this before but I did everything I found and did not work, like update Quicktime and to ffdshow software. None of them fixed my problem. Never used it before for movie clips, just to remix music. Now found out the movie format issue. I have a Canon S5 si, movie format: mov. Audio drags fine but w/o video. Anything new I can still try to make this work? Do I need to upgrade something? Thanks in advance, Rafi

download the latest version of studio8, and if that doesn't work, try the trial of vegas 9 and see if that works. MOV MJPEG should work with the latest versions you see

Thanks for your reply Eugenia. I tried both this afternoon but still does not work. Any other advise will be really appreciated.

Your Canon should have come with software
called ZoomBrowser EX. With it you can convert
your .mov file to jpeg.avi, which will then open
in any movie editor.

I know it sounds stupid, but some times this trick works with canon files: simply rename the file and give it the .avi extension. If it works, download Windows Commander to perform a 'batch rename' .

Thanks Eugenia, Edverd & Ivan for our input. Finally MOV files converted to AVI work like a charm with Studio8.

Now to keep having fun and creative... If I download clips like from youtube, what format is the one to convert flash flies in order to work with Studio8? I am excited about this new toy!!!

Personaly I use an addon to Firefox called
"Download Helper" which has a built-in
converter when registered. It will put a
logo in the top left of your avi video unless
you pay $28.50. Do note that the quality of
small flv files can look blocky on a TV.
You can also download videos in mpeg
from some websites, like VEOH.com
