Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong please.

I don't ordinarily use loops in V5 but I have a feeling it is the cause for my confusion:
I put a drum loop on a track to use as a metronome (scratch track) for a guitar track. There are no open mics involved, just direct out from the amp to a Delta 1010 card. I arm and record guitar to that track but it also records the drum loop to that track.
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong please?

check the volume properties. it may be recording stereo/mono out, which record anything that you hear in the speakers.

I'm pretty sure that's it (but won't be able to verify until tomorrow). I had plugged the guitar into input #7 on the Delta and selected input 7 from "record inputs" in V5 for that track. Problem is I should have selected input 5 which is Delta 1010 7/8 left or right. Input 7 is actually monitor mixer left and right so surely that's the problem.

i actually record the stereo mix to get music i purchased from napster to mp3's so I can use them. :D It's a really nice feature.
