Can Sony Vegas pro 12 output a 4k UHD .mov file?

Just bought a Sony AX100 4k camcorder mostly for stock video. Great camera and great looking footage. Files load and play well in Vegas Pro 12 but for Stock video sites I need to be able to upload a 4k UHD mov file. As there is no UHD template I choose custom file under the Quicktime rendering options. I then choose Photo-jpeg as the video format and when I try and put the dimensions 3840 in the width box it keeps reverting to 2048 pixels . . . . every time I change it it just does it again. Same happens with the height box. Any one got any ideas how to get around this issue?

I offer several thoughts without the proper experience and expertise to define the OP's situation, but I believe.

1) The 4K format in a .mov container is only native on a Mac.
2) You may need special third-party convertors on a Windows PC to take a given input and turn it into that kind of file format in .mov container

3), but and this begs a real question of the day, are you going to get pristine 4k output from just any input and the answer is no - so you might want to carefully rethink your purpose.

Thanks for your input. I have already converted the file into a 4kmov file on the windows version of After Effects 6 and I believe people are also able to do this with Adobe Premiere 6 so from that standpoint it looks more like a Sony Vegas issue but I just don't know. would prefer if I could do all of this converting in Sony Vegas.

I needed Quicktime Pro to output properly to iStock MOV with V8. Make sure you have that, it was cheap at the time, about $30. Although I'm not sure it opens up 4K options now. You will need to investigate that.

VP12 probably has a frame size limitation on Quicktime video. VP13 has the following listed as a new feature.

"Added support for rendering Video for Windows (.avi), QuickTime (.mov), and Windows Media Video (.wmv) with frame sizes up to 4096x4096."

Thanks for that. Yes somebody else has confirmed Pro 13 is able to render UHD .mov files so looks like it may have to be upgrade time.
