Can't burn a DVD when not admin

Hello, I am using a computer at work as a limited rights user (non-admin account).

When I go to burn a DVD in Architect 5.0, I get the message:

"You are currently logged on to this computer without system administrator privileges. Some features of this program may not be available to you."

Then I get the window that asks me to put in a volume name for the disc, but "Finish" is greyed out, therefore making it impossible for me to burn the DVD.

Is there any way around this, besides giving me admin access (which is not an option at this point)?

Thanks,
Eric

Are you using Vista?..., if so just right click and choose run as admin when starting up DVDA5....

Nope....XP. Plus, to run as admin would require an admin password everytime, would it not? This is not something that the IT folks wish to have to do.

Have a look at this thread and see if anything there helps.

Hi Rob, thanks for the link--looks promising. Funny thing is, on these same computers, we had Sony Vegas Platinum with its version of DVD-A, and never had this issue. Additionally, we have been using Adobe Encore with no similar issues. So either VegasPro and the other two programs are implemented differently in the area of calling hardware, or perhaps my IT person has made some modifications to the permissions since those programs were installed.

Again, thanks for your help!

I have the same problem but I am administrator on my own home computer. (I looked it up and I am a member of administrators group.) Thanks

There is a script you can put in the DVD-A directory that will overcome that. I ran into that in our college environment several years ago. Tech support gave it to us. That was back when it was SONY.

I had the same issue as perry-d. I have admin privileges but DVD Arch 7 tells me I don't when I try to burn a DVD (I haven't played around with Blu Ray yet but presumably it has a similar issue). This is poor quality coding in my opinion -- I do not see a reason why it should even require admin rights, but even as it does, it should be able to detect correctly users with admin rights.

To get around this, if you have admin permission, right-click the DVD Architect wherever you kick it off and select "Run as administrator." If you don't have local admin rights, you can create the files and then manually copy them to the DVD disc (though some computer policies at the office might explicitly forbid this).
