Can't burn a MiniDVD? Why?

I bought some 1.4GB/30min MiniDVD-Rs to use as "Welcome" DVDs for visitors to my organization. However, they won't burn under DVDA 1.0, but they will burn under Roxio's Creative Classics 6.0. The bummer is, is that I have a cool layout in DVDA that I want to use. I can burn a regular DVD+R of what I want, but not the Mini DVD-Rs. Can anyone help me figure out why they won't burn, or how I can make them burn. I saw a forum from 2003 talking about using Nero software, but I think that there is probably an easier way now.

It would probably help if you mentioned exactly what happens when you try to use a miniDVD. Do you get an error message? Does DVDA refused to acknowledge that they're a disc in the drive? Does it refuse to acknowledge that there's a drive?

Other helpful info:
Brand and model of burner
Brand of miniDVD-Rs -- are they same brand as the DVD-Rs that work?
Are you using the most recent update of your DVD software, 1.0d?

I saw a forum from 2003 talking about using Nero software, but I think that there is probably an easier way now.

A little, but not a whole lot. DVDA still has issues with many burners. I don't think this is going to change unless Sony lets someone else write the burning component.

Hey Rob! Thanks for asking the right questions. Sorry I didn't list the answers earlier. Well, my computer recognizes the Mini DVD & so does DVDA. Roxio will burn them but DVDA will not. So, DVDA prepares the project but when it comes time to burn it says: "Warning: An error occurred while writing a file. Error 0x8004e0c8 (message missing)".

As far as the burner I use, it is the Plextor PX-712A. The brand of MiniDVD-Rs are Optodisc, and yes I am using the latest version of DVDA 1.0d. I know that my burner can burn them because it did it through Roxio, but I thought for sure that DVDA would work. It was kindof disappointing to have it work on a cheesy program but not on DVDA. Anyway, if you know any solutions, please throw them my way! Thank you again.

I am using 2.0 now, if you burn the same project on a atandard size
disc does the burned area look like it will fit within the size of the mini?

You can burn up to about 1/4 inch from th disc's edge.

Any chance you can burn the project using Nero?

'Fraid not, I haven't got any other solutions than the standard ones (different brand / type of media, different burning app). I've seen that error message asked about on this forum a few times, but don't think I've ever seen a definitive answer as to what it means.

If DVD Architect finishes preparing the project and the size of the files will fit on the disc, then simply use some other burning program (like Roxio or Nero) to burn the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS directories to the disc. Done deal.
