Can't burn DVDs

Happy Guy wrote on 12/26/2009, 9:33 AM
I had my project completed and got to the burn step. When I tried to make the disc I got a SCSI/IDE error. Interestingly, after installing Architect, if I put in a blank DVD the options that normally come up automatically with WIndows (what would you like to do) were blank. If I uninstall Architect, the options come back. I even tried the test mode (do not burn) in Architect and still got the error. Running XP PRO SP3 on a Dell with a TS-H553A DVD burner. Using other programs I am able to burn DVDs and CDs just this program doesn't want to work.

Are you running DVDA Studio or DVDA Pro? Which version number?

DVDA Studio 4.5

Installed on my laptop with Win 7 and it works fine. I'd prefer to have it work on the desktop instead as that's where I do all my video capturing.

DVDA Studio 4.5

There have been four updates since DVDA Studio 4.5.
Try the latest, 4.5d, and if that doesn't solve your problem, go to Options->Preferences and check the "Skip drive database - Autodetect" option.

Thanks for the suggestions. I installed the 4.5d and I got the same error. Tried changing the option under preferences and it still failed. Bummer.

Is there a firmware update available for your burner?
If none of these suggestions work, you should open a support ticket with Sony. Burner support issues are rare in later versions of the software.

Tried the firmware update yesterday (09/2007 was the most recent). Still nothing. I'll have to go the service ticket route.

Thx

Try the following workaround.

In Make DVD in DA select Prepare, do not select Burn.
Browse the Prepare Folder line to see where DA will put the prepared folder and take note.
Run DA. When finished, close DA to avoid colissions.

Open whatever other Burn program you have, such as Roxio, Power2Go, etc. Go to the Copy function, select the Folder identified above. Open it, you will see a Video_TS folder inside and select it.
That is the folder you want to copy and burn to your DVD.

Works for me since burning DVD from inside Vegas or DA is a known bug, unresolved, and on a ticket still.

Good luck.Cheers.
