can`t capture anymore...directx9?

Hi..

My Vegas 4 is not seeing my camera anymore. I`ve already captured several videos, printed to tape sometimes also and now, my camera is not been detected through the IEEE1394 and vegas` video capture 4.

The only thing that i installed was the "enter the matrix" game which had updated my drectx from 8 to 9.

My camera is a sony dcr-trv22

By the way, the only thing that is not working is the IEEE. I tried to capture throug USB streaming and all went fine.

Could it be the directX 9?

i hope you can help me.

Daniel

Assuming that you have XP-try to capture trough firewire using movie director and see it is working.

There were issues with directx9 when it was first introduced. Microsoft offers a fix on their site. Go to Microsoft's site and check out their updates. If you indeed have a buggy version, the update will fix it.

I am using directx9 and not having any trouble with Vegas and my Sony DV camcorder.

Good Luck

well,
neither the vegas video capture nor the windows movie maker can find any devices through the firewire.

But i just realized that the little redlight that appears on the firewire cable when it is connected is not turning on

please help me.

Is your firewire card installed? Maybe during the DX update the drivers for the firewire got corrupted. Check device manager to see if your firewire card is working right.

it seems ok.

NO conflict was detected, it says that the drivers are ok.

I restaured the configs to december 22nd (i remember it working this day) and still nothing.

The card was not connected right. It is ok now but is not working.

I will check the cable and the card with the local dealer.

I had the same problem last night. My firewire wire card had some problem registering in the hardware manager window. Restarting the PC did not work, reinstalling the drivers did not work. Cold boot finally did the job. See if it works for you.

still nothing.

Is there any way of installing an older directx version?

The place where i bought my computer told me tomake a back up of my files and reinstall windows XP.
I have 40GB+ of videos and projects in the HD.

It must have another way of fixing it.

there's no "uninstall utility" with DirectX...
Zulqar-Cheema wrote on 1/4/2004, 11:42 AM
Can you not use the restore feature to back to the time before the install.?

Have you tried removing the driver and then cold boot, to see if the install l will fix the problem?

Failing that , move the data via USB to a different drive and then try fresh install.

Use a different PC to play games this Fire Wire stuff is still a bit woolly

I had the same problem when I added DX9 to Win98SE. Thereafter, VV would only recognize an old driver for Logitech Quickcam. I had to do a cold reboot, use EndItAll to remove the Logitech driver (and other programs), then start VV. Don't know if this solution will work in XP. I will get around to removing the Quickcam driver permanently.

FYI

The problem wasn't in the computer/firewire.
Unfortunately the problem was in the camcorder's firewire.

Thank you all for the help.
