Can't capture video! Help!!

I have a Hauppage WinTVR tuner card with analog RCA jacks on it. I use this for video capture. I can use an external program (Nero Video Capture) to capture my video segments. However, I would like to just do this in Vegas Studio. However, when I go to the capture video mode, and I select the Hauppage card, it says, "no device connected" and gives a blue screen in the preview window. I would simply like to know how to capture off of these RCA jacks using this card. Is there a setting I have to input? Something I'm doing wrong?

Any help is appreciated! :D

Thanks!

Vegas does not capture from analog devices afaik.
The standard route is with a 1394 firewire card.

You may be able to capture using the software with your card or a third party app like AVI-IO, then import the captured files to Vegas.

ok. (rats!) I'll purchase a firewire cable. I've already got a firewire port so I'll just do it that way.

Thanks for the info!

Yes, you will get much better results this way since you will be capturing the exact digital material.

I have a CameraMate (Zio Corp) USB capture module that has phono jacks for connecting to devices such as VCR's. The VMS Capture program does work with the CameraMate. I am able to capture video/audio stored on VHS tape from my VCR. It drops a frame here and there, but not much of a problem for that type of thing (VHS tape).
