I can't get the Canon HV20 HDV cam recognised by VMSP 9b. Its Vidcap 6e will see and capture its DV files, but set at HDV output, 6e says 'no camera, see it's turned on etc' Any ideas? WinXP sees it. Thx.
You don't capture HV20 HDV video via the VideoCapture utility. You capture it via the Vegas own interface. When you click the menu option to capture, a popup window comes and asks you if you want to capture DV or HDV. You click HDV. If you don't get that popup dialog, it means that you disabled it in the past. To get it back, you have to find it and enable it in the Vegas Preference panel.
Thanks Eugenia, found the necessary and all is well.
I had started an SD DVD project by capturing Canon XH-A1 HDV clips from a HV20 which was configured to output DV.
The results were bad and unacceptable, so after running some tests by capturing the same HDV files directly to VMSP 9b from the HV20 and letting Vegas do the downconverting.....there's no question that's the way to go.
