Can't create a fresh text box. It has prior wording from another box

I am having trouble with text boxes in Platinum 17. When I make a second default text box, it already has the same text I previously used. When I change it to what I want, then the old text box is changed as well. Somehow they are synchronized or mirrored. How do I disconnect the two text boxes? I tested again by creating a new video track, then media generator, then titles and text, then (default). It is supposed to read, "Sample Text", but instead it reads the text from my prior text box. My procedure used to work fine, but now this problem happened.

Thank you very much.

You can only have one Default Text Setting. It sounds like you have overwritten the native Default. Instead, try to rename before saving.

Thank you, Dot, for your answer. That got me to thinking. Then, I figured out my problem and its solution.

I was doing the wrong procedure. The correct method is this:

Click on the video track where you want to insert text.

Click Media Generator.

Click Titles and Text.

Drag the (default) “Sample Text” box into your track at the proper location.

Now, here is the all-important step!!!

Within that event click on the “Generated Media” icon in the upper right corner.

Then edit the “Video Media Generator” box with your desired wording and also adjust font style and size, color, location, advanced, outline, shadow, animation, etc. as desired.

Click the video preview tab to view and maybe re-position.

Here is what I was doing wrong: After dragging the Default text box into my timeline, I was immediately going up to the “Video Media Generator” window and editing there without first clicking on this specific event's icon to edit the media generator.
