Can't drag video to timeline

HEY, Y'all...


I am a new user, trying out the trial version of VEGAS 21.0. I didn't get far - I have my video up on the left screen. It is an AVI file. I click on it, it is highlighted, but I can't Preview or drag down to my timeline. I have tried with a couple different AVI files. I am using a PC with Windows 10

 

Can a guy get a little help here?

Try dragging it by the frame not the central video?

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.

AVI containers usually wrap complex codec media streams. You should check it with mediainfo and post the results.
