can't edit FX after upgrade

I've upgraded Movie Studio Platinum from 12.0.576 to 12.0.1184.
Now I can't edit the effects on an event or modify the Pan / Crop.

Any ideas - could I be missing a setting.
I know this can be done, it stopped working after the upgrade.

You may have to uninstall VMS the reinstall the update. Even though it's an "update" it's a full install.
