Under c:\windows\system32 you have a file called SNDVOL32. Find it and double click on it - something else might have [mute] ticked off that you aren't aware of - this file will show you if there are any. Beyond that, I'm scratching my head.

Are you capturing and editing in .avi?

hi.
maybe i'm off base here. does your camcorder capture as mpg2 directly to a mini dvd, or does it go to dv tape as avi?
my camcorder goes to dv tape, but its an older dv camera, and does not have firewire out.
anway, just a hunch, but what if your audio is in a format like ac3 (if the camcorder uses mpg2).. in that case screenblast will not see any audio, since ac3 is not supported.
maybe i'm up the wrong tree here. just a thought.
good luck.

by the way, i've found the forums to be the best place to get problems resolved. this forum is great, lots of knowledge here!

good luck,

The problem you describe, i.e. ac3 audio, is the problem I'm having. How do I convert my captured video files into a format I can edit in Movie Studio?

Try Virtualdub-MPEG2. It will convert the mpeg to avi and the ac-3 to wav. I've had mixed results - the good stuff was excellent but the bad was unuseable. On the other hand, it's free, so you've nothing to lose!
