Can't get permission to extract from CD

I have Vegas 20 on one computer and 15 on another. Both run Win 10 and I am listed as administrator on both machines. I used to be able to extract tracks from CDs. But suddenly on both machines I get a notice that this may not work unless I'm the administrator. How do I get this to work again? I suspect MS is mucking around in the background.

Does Windows Media Player still rip your CDs? That’s a serious question.

What happens if you acknowledge the "helpful message" and continue with your extraction?

I'm glad you asked. I get the screen that should shows the track but it's blank and that's true no matter what view I ask for. It's like it won't recognize the disc in the drive. Yes, the drive works. I managed to use another program to grab the cuts I wanted. This was never a problem in the past.
