can't import files to Vegas 5 - HELP?

midge wrote on 7/7/2004, 3:28 AM
I just downloaded the trial version of Vegas 5 and it won't let me import .mov files. I have tried renaming them with .dv or .avi extensions, but I always get the error message: 'Warning: an error occured while opening one or more files. The file format plugin for the specified format was not properly initialized.'

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!!!

Changing the file extension sure will not help.
Have you tried importing an AVI file, just for starters.
Vgeas uses quicktime to decode the .mov files, but also you might need to be careful with just what the .mov files contain. Where did the .mov files come from? Can you play them with the quicktime player on the same system?

You need to install QuickTime, the full version, not just the player.

StrongDotGuy is correct, you need to install QuickTime. Be sure to do a custom install, selecting all components.
