Using Vegas Movie Studio 9.
My son wants to use this program to edit some gaming videos he's created using the Elgato Game Capture HD device. The files are .mp4, and they play just fine in Windows Media Player. But when he tries to bring them into the timeline in VMS, he just gets the audio and no picture. When we right click on the files in VMS and look under Properties, under the Streams heading, we just see the audio.
Any thoughts?
Video from game-capturing devices is known to cause problems such as this in Vegas, and often needs transcoding to a more Vegas-friendly codec. There are free transcoding apps around. I am not sure which one to suggest though. There has been discussion on this a couple of times on this forum or the Vegas Pro forum in the last couple of weeks, but unfortunately there is no search function yet on this forum. Post the MediaInfo here as per #6 in this thread.
I also experience same problem but with raw footage from dslr. To achieve smooth playback on preview screen I tried to convert raw to mp4 bt the Platinum 13 does not display them at all.
