Can't import video from SD card/Elura

I'm a newbie, and this is probably obvious, but why won't Vegas recognize the video part of .mvi movies? I recorded this on Canon Elura--saved on the SD card rather than tape....and am guessing that this is the problem.....do I need a 3rd party codec or something to be able import this? (The audio is fine, when I try to drag the file to the video track, nothing happens...only the audio track appears.)

Or is there something in initial setup that I'm missing? Just installed last night....I thought flawlessly.....what am I missing?

Thanks!

Youre correct that you need a codec. Most Canon cameras use mjpeg format. People have had good success with ffdshow (free) and other codecs. Search the forum for more details, I posted instructions on how to install the ffdshow codec for mjpeg video a while back.
