Can't install Vegas 12 trial?

We use Vegas 10 at work, but I wanted to play with 12 and see if it was worth convincing them to upgrade because I hate DVFilm and native P2 MXF support is potentially awesome.

I downloaded the installer from the Sony FTP and it installs and then returns the following error and rolls back:

Error: -2147163964 occurred during installation

Could not create key: \.ogg\vegas120_ogg\ShellNew. Verify that you have sufficient access to the key, or contact your support personnel.

What the heck does that mean?

Are you sure you tried to install on a 64 bit OS?

dirtynbl - you cannot run unless you are the computer admin is what that means. If you have user security running as default, I can only feel your pain - it will be a no go.

Yes, I am installing on a rip roaring fast system with Windows 8 x64.

Windows is set to automatically raise to administrator levels, but I've also tried running as administrator and that doesn't work either.

Any other ideas? Tried installing in Safe Mode, but that didn't work either. It claims it has installed, but there's nothing in the Program Files folder.

Here's the full error code from the SCS Installer log:

=> Error Code
Error Code: SETUP_E_INSTALLPRODUCT
Error Code: FINISH TXT ERROR: -2147163964 occured during installation

Could not create key: \.ogg\vegas120_ogg\ShellNew. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

=> FinishDialog
FinishDialog: Finish Dialog

Anyone?

Is there anywhere to go and look up error codes? Been almost a week since I submitted a an email to SCS support and have heard nothing. Impressive.
