Can't Install Vegas5...please help!

Zendorf wrote on 4/20/2004, 7:45 AM
I have just purchased the Vegas5 and DVD2 upgrade and am trying to install it on my win2000 system.Unfortunately the installer won't do anything , it just gives me the error message : "Unable to write to the temp directory in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp\. Check that you have write access to this directory."

I have tried everything to install, but it only goes as far as this message! The only time this ever happened before was when I had tried to install Vegas4 and DVDA1 when it came out and as a workaround, I installed on my win98 machine and then ported the extracted files to my win2000 machine. But of course vegas 5 does not work on win98, so hence I can't do it this way.
Any help would be much appreciated!!!!!

Is your C drive full?

Cleanup your temp-directory. Delete all the files in there before installing Vegas.

Go to My Computer>>C:>>Properties, then click on the Security tab, and check to make sure that you have allowed every option. You should also make sure you have full administrator privileges on your user profile, or at least power user privileges.

See if this helps.

I had the same thing once with V4.. Seemed my soundcard-driver (Aardvark) was causing the problem. When I uninstalled THAT driver and installed V4 it worked fine.. installed the soundcard after that..
Maybe you have a similir problem with one of your hardware drivers?

good luck,

You need to have full administrator privs to install the product under Windows 2000 or XP. It sounds like that may be the issue you are encountering. There are a few other things we can look at too, if that doesn't fix this for you, Zendorf. Give us a call in Tech Support and we'll help you out. 608.204.7704.
