Can't load AVI files

Hi. there is no forum here for Movie Studio Platinum so I thought I'd ask here. I can't load avi files into my software. I have been to SoundForge and loaded the x264vfw codecs and still no Joy. I am running Windows 7, quad core, 12 gig ram. Avi files load fine in all my other programs. can anyone help her. cheers, Mick

Are you able to change the avi to something else? Like an mp4 or a wmv maybe?

1. This is the Movie Studio Platinum forum. You have arrived.
2. AVI is a wrapper; can contain any of HUNDREDS of codecs. So we need to know which ones are inside those files. Download MediaInfo from Sourceforge and tell us all those gritty details.
3. Installing third party codecs willy-nilly is ill-advised. x264vfw will not hurt your system, but there are others that will! Above all, do not install third party codec "packs!"
4. Once we find out which codec flavor is used in your files, we can advise you in the best specific direction. This is not DIY.
