I checked the Quicktime box and rebooted the PC as instructed. still did not work. So I deleted the Quicktime and reinstalled the Quicktime 7.7.9 for windows and then re-booted again and it still does not work. This must be a bug in the software of Vegas and they should rectify?
@Roy-Freedman My understanding is that unfortunately the QT plugin got broken in the VMSP17 Build 204 issued a few months back. We are still waiting for it to be fixed.
I find VMS will open some mov files using other codecs. But if QT is needed they won't work. Mine which don't open in VMSP17 have "JPEG video format".
Same issue here... I am trying to import .mov files from my iPhone XR, but no luck with Studio 17. I actually downloaded 17 because I was having problems with Movie Studio 15 in the middle of a project. So I am now trying to open and finish the edit with 17. The file seems to open fine, but the video portions of the clips are showing offline, while the audio plays without issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
@Max-Weinstein Please post full media info not just the summary. You need to go to View/Text as per the instructions in the link I posted earlier in this thread.

@Max-Weinstein It could be the HEVC video that's the problem. In VMS go to Options/Preferences and the File I/O tab. If Enable legacy HEVC decoding is unticked try ticking it. If it's already ticked try unticking it.
