Can't make a movie

I'm just trying to format my movie so that I can save it on to a CD to share with my parents - maybe just using Windows Media Player. Saved it onto my hard drive as a Windows Media File and then copied it onto a CD. Media Player opens it and it looks/sounds great, but ends after just 22 seconds. (Movie is about 17 minutes long.) Any ideas? It says the file is about 1.1MB. Would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Make sure you're using the latest version of Media Player. Screenblast MovieStudio 3.0 saves your files as WMV version 9.

That's just a wild guess since, if it were an outdated codec issue, you probably wouldn't see any of the file at all.

Does it play okay from your hard drive, before you copy it to CD?

I had a similar problem with some CDs that couldn't handle the speed of my newer CD burner. I lowered the write speed and they worked fine.

Grisetti - same thing works reading it from my hard drive using windows media. My widows media player is version 8.0.0.4490 ?? I brought the CD to work and the same thing happens there - WMP ver 6.4.9.1109. (I do have WIndows MovieMaker on my computer (didn't know it until you suggested using it earlier to produce the MPEG1.) I'm going to try that tonight. Thanks again.

jga324 - I'll try changing the write speed tonight. Do you have a suggestion for the speed? I do have a "high speed" burner (Dell). The CD's I'm using say "700 MB, 80 minute, Write from 4X up to 12X Multi Speed". I think my burner was set to 10X. I think.

Thanks to both for the suggestions! I'll take all the help I can get.

I don't remember what speed I finally used. I've had the CDs for a couple of years; they couldn't handle the higher speeds.

You never know, it might work. Thanks.
