You can't open AVI's in Vegas 3.0 using DivX 5.0.2. You can, however, open them using 5.0.5.

Thanks for the reply, Any suggestions what I can do? Use some other software to re-encode?
What about Vegas 4? Will the avi open in 4?

Just go to http://www.divx.com/divx/ and download the codec. DivX 5.0.5 is backwards compatible with older versions of DivX. So it can open your DivX 5.0.2 files without any problem - no re-encode is necessary.

I don't actually use the DivX Player so I can't comment there.

However, there is a logo in Windows Media Player as well. The good news is that you can turn that logo off. Look through your Start Menu for something like "DivX Decoder Configuration." There should be a check box to disable the logo under the "Quality" settings tab (don't ask me why they put it there).

I would think that chances are good that it controls the logo in the DivX player as well.
