Can't open .veg files by double-clicking them (Vegas Pro 18)

Hi,

This is a very annoying thing but I can't find a solution on the internet.

I have a fresh installation of Vegas Pro 18 on my Windows 11 Pro (14th Gen i7 CPU/96G RAM/GTX 4070 GPU) and it's the only Vegas Pro version I have on this PC. I used the default installation path.

I created some projects and saved them as .veg files on my hard drive just as normal.

To access these files, now I need to open Vegas Pro 18 first, and load them in the software. However, I CAN'T open them by just double-clicking the files in the Windows file explorer. It gives a VEGAS Pro 18.0 must be installed from DVD or the downloaded installer message like the screenshot below.

When I clicked OK, it showed this Fatal error during installation message:

This never happened on my previous PC (Windows 10 Pro). I could always launch Vegas Pro 18 by just double-clicking a .veg file stored on that old PC.

I checked the file association (RMB > properties) and the .veg file format IS associated with VEGAS Pro:

I also tried to re-assign the associated executable file to C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 18.0\vegas180.exe but nothing changed.

Any idea how this happens and what the solution is?

Thanks in advance.
