Can't Print to Tape from VidCap

As a Vegas Pro user for several years I've never had this problem:

We recently loaded the latest version of Movie Studio HD Platinum on a new computer and, after editing several .m2t files I rendered the time line to an .avi file and attempted to print the result to miniDV tape.

VidCap showed "Cue Device" and "Preview on Device" but no "Record" button.

I retraced all the steps indicated in the Help menu, made sure the miniDV deck and computer were connected and loaded VidCap again. Still no record button. All the controls on the tool bar work -- that is, the computer controls the deck, but no recording.

I'm missing something here, but I don't know what.

Maybe off the beam here but don't .m2t files come from HDV tapes. I would expect avi to print to SD. Is the camera set to SD?

I'm printing to a Sony miniDV/DVCAM (SD) deck. Avi file should print without any problem. Prints to tape o.k. from Vegas but not from Movie Studio. Strange.

"AVI" is nebulous and unspecific. What kind of AVI file? Probably only DV will work for the print-to-tape function.

Make sure your tape is not REC locked.
