Can't register ligos plugin in VV3

Wanted to ask you all wise guys out there :)

Why do I always get a error message saying'code is an activation code' when I try to register the ligos MPEG plugin in VV3? Is the serial number for VV3 I got from SonicFoundry when I bought VV3 not enough to get unlimited usage of the ligos MPEG plugin?
And is there much difference in quality between the Main Concept plugin and Ligos?

Ligos is no longer supported, and you will no longer be able to register Ligos if it becomes unregistered. Main Concept is the new MPEG encoder for all SF products, and in just about every area it is vastly superior.
