I don't know the answer to your question, but, would suggest you abort your efforts to upgrade Vidcap to any version but 2.5 which is packaged with the latest VideoFactory demo/upgrade download.

Download and install VideoFactory (version 2.0 I think it is), install it as a demo, and the latest, greatest version of SF videocapture is yours at no charge, free to use whether you register the VideoFactory program or not.

It works great, has some nice enhanced features, you'll get some FX enhancements from the VF demo, also.

There is at least one thread on this form (probably a month back or so) dealing with this topic. Look it up for more informed info than I am able to provide.
