Can't use .mov

I use a Kodak HD camera for some video clips. It saves as .mov. Trying to use clips in Vegas Pro 9.0c, I get OK audio but the video stream is black. Searched knowledge base and it recommended changing the name of the clips to .mp4. Seems my Vista Home Basic won't allow this and I get, for example, name.mp4.mov (and, of course no improvement). Thanks in advance for any tips you can offer. All The Best ... John

My guess is that you updated iTunes or QuickTime to the latest version.
QT 7.6.6 broke the handling of QT files in Vegas - again :-(
The only solution is to uninstall the new version of QT and install an older version (preferably 7.6.4) instead.
You can find a copy of it on this site.

I don't quite know what you mean by a "a Kodak HD camera." But, if what you really mean is a Kodak zi8, zi6, zx1, or PlaySport model, you may want to see my tutorial here:

As suggested by Mike, you may need to downgrade your Quicktime installation to deal with these files.

Hint: In the future, you will want to be specific in your product descriptions. Good luck.
