Well, if you go back in the forum just a little you'll see that this exact question was answered.

let me clarify that i know i can uncheck the opendml box to make a non-avi2 file.
but, there is a 2gb limit. my understanding is that type 1 avi files are capable of exceeding the 2gb limit.

i searched, but found nothing. i'll try again. thanks.

i found the posting about CAPTURING in avi 1 vs. avi 2. i'm not wanting to capture. i want to render a final edit to avi 1.

In the video setting tab, there's a checkbox called "Create an openDML (AVI version 2.0) compatible file"

I guess that it should work if you uncheck it, try it and tell us if it works

i understand what you are saying, but keep in mind that not everyone follows this forum. and.. i DID do a search, but i kept turning up zero. maybe i'm search impaired or something.

i can uncheck the opendml box, but will unchecking the interleave box make a difference to the 2gb limit? that's my real problem. i need larger than 2gb files, and dvd workshop won't accept avi type 2 files.

ugh.
