Hello,..here is a feature that I need and would like from a NLE program. Being anewbie to Vegas 3 can someone please tell me if I missed this in the trial run over the weekend...Not sure what the techie term is for what I'm about to describe,..but I will nevertheless attempt to describe it....
I have a video clip in the timeline (or event as VV likes to call it)
I want to use the light flare effect.
I drag the effect over and whammo the editor opens up for that effect. Great so far!
NOW,...I want the flare effect to only cover a tiny portion of the center of the screen and not anywhere else. Silly, I know,..but I'm trying to explain what I'm looking for.
I know I can move the flare around and fade in and out with keyframes,...but can one actually reshape it or restrict the flare to only extend to a boundary and stop right at that boundary?
Better yet, say a green tint, Can I get the green tint to only appear in the person's left eye while leaving the entire remaining frame in black/white?
What is this feature called and can VV3 do this, or is this for the heavyweight programs like Avid Xpress or maybe a post type program like Commotion or After Effects. Just curious. I think VV3 is a very nice program otherwise.
If indeed this is only done in an After Effects,....wouldn't this be self defeating? I mean would this mean that I would have to create the video in VV3 or any NLE for that matter, export the video to MPEG 1, 2, or whatever format and then after editing in After Effects I would have to re-compress??? This would comprimise the quality wouldn't it??? Double compression???
