Yes you can. I typically use the "Split Screen" tool from NewBlue: https://www.newbluefx.com/products/elements

However, you can also do this using a combination of both Pan/Crop and Track Motion.

LOL! Thanks. So I CAN do it if I buy a product that costs more than what I paid for Vegas!

It does look cool.

You can do it within Vegas. You don't need external plugins.

I did also mention you could do it using Pan/Crop and Track Motion which are both built-in parts of Vegas.

There's several ways to do a split screen depending on how you want it split.

You can use multiple tracks & use the pan/crop tool to mask out the part of the video you don't want.

You can use multiple tracks & use track motion to move the track around for how you want.

You can make a transition between two events, use a wipe & use a transition envelope to stop it part way through.

You can do what you want using nothing more than Vegas, however, one of the most powerful features of Vegas is the ability to run scripts to automate complex Vegas functions. To my knowledge, this is a feature that no other video editor has. There are hundreds of free scripts available for Vegas from a variety of sources. Google "free vegas scripts".

There is a free Vegas add-in called Video Wall from DaviTools that does this.

Here is a tutorial from my web site on one way to achieve a split screen with nothing more than the built-in Vegas Pro capabilities:

James...do you know where to install the Davitools Video Wall files in VP13?
Gary James wrote on 12/30/2015, 5:28 AM
Mine was installed in the \Documents\Vegas Application Extensions subdirectory.
