Didn't you already ask this question and resolve it? https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/my-video-is-gray--139230/

hi. bro i don't think you read my post fully. this post is trying to render the video as non hdr for hdr footage to reduce the render time

fr0sty wrote on 1/31/2023, 4:19 AM

Your problem is 32 bit mode is slow... import your video into an 8 bit project and use a conversion LUT to convert Rec2020 to Rec709.

And Sony VEGAS doesn't exist anymore, if you're using Sony VEGAS, it isn't compatible with HDR to begin with.

RogerS wrote on 1/31/2023, 4:47 AM

I read it, it complains yet again about the footage being "gray" which we resolved by setting the appropriate media settings.

For staying in 8-bit full mode for faster SDR renders try what Frosty suggests.

Project properties is where you can change back from 32-bit. LUTs are available online including if you search this forum.

Rec2020 HLG to Rec709

I think he has PQ files, not the HLG footage.

It should be possible to transform that zu rec709

- either with a LUT transforming PQ rec2020 to rec709

- with ACES, but then he has to set the media properties in a sound way - and must use the ACES transformation to rec709.

Maybe it would be better to shoot to log? Is it a Canon camera?
