Can you use crf in vegas? how?

SimonGhoul wrote on 11/29/2017, 7:49 PM

I always use mp4 format, the one that says sony or magix I dunno, I wish my vegas wasn't rendering so it's easier to explain what I mean

I saw a image and I guess you can use it in wmv, but mp4? how? just want to achieve the best quality without losing anything, I am sticking with vrb for now (even though obs is using crf, I bet that has many consequences but at least nothing serious)

I recorded 1080p60fps but I'll usually record 1080p30fps

crf is a feature of x264, which is a 3rd-party external encoder. See part 4 of this: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-improve-the-quality-of-my-avc-h-264-renders--104642/

Thank you so much
to confirm, do I do what vegas2handbrake says?

and does the audio bug still happen? (as said on the website)

(If this was answered already on the website or another post you left there, sorry, I don't have time to read that now (I will later))

Yes, unfortunately there's no more developement to the DebugMode FrameServer (which is the only one working in Vegas Pro) since years, so no chance to get rid of the audio bug.

oh well :/ at least it isn't that hard to solve ^^
Also, does handbrake have to close itself when it finishes? I left it at "Do nothing" because I just didn't find it necessary

If you use the Vegas2HandBrake workflow then not closing HandBrake would all the background processes belonging to this workflow prevent from stopping.

Oh well, so I have to, oke
Thank you for making this and also for explaining it to me! ^^

I forgot to mention, for cases where that background processes won't stop for any reason, use the script "unmount" which is part of this workflow.

Thanks! I was guessing that's why it was there, but I wasn't sure, thank you
