Cancel Load button has disappeared

I no longer have a "cancel" button appearing onscreen during project load.

Can someone help me get it back?

Was it at the bottom of the screen? If so, you may have turned off the Status Bar view on your view menu. I'm not in front of Vegas right now, but I think that was the right menu name.
