Hi John, sorry to hear you're having problems. I agree with rustier, your PC definitely has issues. Also agreed that your burner driver may be corrupt or just needing to be updated. Have you updated drivers for your various hardware components lately? If not, I recommend it. Let us know if you need help with that. Do a Start > Run > dxdiag to see what your hardware components are.

btw, did you load VMS and DVDAS on your son's computer? How's it running there?

Just a thought, but is it possible that you have other burning software installed. I have seen some programs which openly admit to being intolerant of other burning software. Perhaps you have something installed on your machine which is designed to make your DVD drive work like a virtual disk drive (I have never been a big fan of those, myself).

I tried restore aleady and it would not restore to before the update was installed. I searched all files for DVD architect and found three coies of the DVD architect still there after uninstalling. It looks like the uninstall is not removing everything. I hope manually deleting files works.

The program definately opens after i eject the disk in the DVD drive, I did it several times. The program activates the DVD drive and it just sits there reading the drive till I eject, then the program opens.

I definately think there might be a problem the compatability with the DVD drive.

Thaks for the responses I will post with anything new.

Ok. Found that the memorex DVD I was trying to use was bad, my whole computer slowed and things took forever to load. Removed said DVD from drive and voila everything worked fine.

Removed all DVD architect files, Defragged hard drive, reinstalled DVD architect. Program worked fine up to burning of previous successful project. Once I t started to burn an error came up "IOTC Error". I guess I will be uninstalling and switching to son's computer.

I guess it's one step forward, two steps back, as they say.

What DVD drive are you left with in the PC? You may still need to update the firmware drivers for that burner.

As asked before, what are your computer specs?

Do you have Nero, Clone DVD or other DVD app loaded on your PC. They could be causing a conflict with DVDAS.

The firmware is up to date. The thing is it has worked with no problems up till now. The only other DVD burning software is Roxiol, I guess I can delete it to see.

Intel p4 2.66
1024 ddr
nvidia geforce ti 4200
hlds 16x DVD drive/ lite on 48x 24x 48x cd combo
200 gig harddrive

Deleting Roxio did not help.

I uninstalled / reinstalled the DVD driver and was able to burn a project. I wil hold my breath and hope it is fixed. Thanks for the responses.

Lasted one burn. As soon as I put the DVD in, the program stops responding, the drive just sets there whirrring. When I go into task manager there are 2 DVD architects listed not responding. Unbelievable. I tried another NEW MEMOREX DVD and it worked. Time to try another brand DVD. Could it be the DVD's?
Strangeman wrote on 10/15/2006, 11:20 AM
I'd be a bit suspicious as to why there were 2 DVDa's not responding. Could it be that somewhere along the line you have ticked one of those annoying boxes which pop up when you inserted your first blank DVD?
My reason for asking this is that the first time I plugged in my camera to do ome capturing, windows asked me what program I'd like to run whenever I plug in my camera, so I chose Sony video capture. Trouble is this starts up VMS with a new project, even if I am in the middle of working on a different project, and it isn't immediately obvious that this has happened, so that leads me to wonder whether a similar sort of thing has happened to you.
Incidentally, if anyone out there could tell us how to turn off that feature once it has been selected, I would be most grateful ....

You mean when windows automaticly detects a dvd that was inserted in drive? I get that, but close it. I have checked the task manager after closing this window and there was only one version running. I checked the hard drive and there does not seem to be more than one file of the DVD architect, unless it is hidden somewhere from a previous uninstall. I just bought some Sony DVD's, I will give them a try. Next thing I will do is steal the DVD rom from my son's computer.

Try holding down the left Shift key before loading the DVD and hold it down for about 10 seconds after the disc is inserted and closed. This should prevent any autorun function from running. Not sure if it will help but worth a try.

I have not had any trouble since usin the SONY DVD's. GO figure. Thanks to everyone who responded. I have been busy putting my wife's sister in-laws and Mother in-laws wedding pictures on DVD. They are comming out great. I especially like working with the 50 yr old black and whites.

I have a question? When people use copywrited songs on the DVD's for, "for hire" job's, how do you go about paying royalties?

Thanks again.
