CANNOT capture video.. tried all suggestions!

I have read through all the problems/solutions that have been posted on this forum to resolve video capturing issues with Screenblast 3.0a. I am using a Sony MicroMV IP55 camera... it is recognized and video is captured fine using MovieShaker 3.1... when I try to capture with ScreenBlast, it says: "The device 'Microsoft AV/C Tape Subunit Device' could not be opened. Please make sure that it is turned on... "

I have tried turning on the camera before and after starting the program, I went into the Disk Manager and made a new, empty folder on the desktop for my captured video, I reinstalled the program....

I had ScreenBlast installed before I ever installed MovieShaker, so it has nothing to do with that either....

PLEASE HELP!!

Try this....go to the Capture screen, and click on [video]. Make sure your camera is listed there AND there's a big dot beside it.

The only thing listed under the 'Video' tab on the capture screen is 'Microsoft AV/C Tape Subunit device'... it has not dot beside it, and when i click it, the program tries to reconnect with my camera, to no success

I occasionally have the same problem with my Sony DRV140. I can't really say how I get MS to finally recognize it (you think I'd know the steps by now, but noooo.) However, after some amount of turning the camera on, THEN starting MS, or rebooting, starting MS, then plugging the 11394 cable in and turning the camera on, etc. it finally recognizes the camera. Another thing I've tried is to start a brand new project within the capture window.

Sorry this isn't much help, but just know that I've had the exact same problem and eventually got it to work, somehow.

Wesleypresley,

SB3.0 dose not support MicroMV Camcoder
The only way is to capture thru MoiveShaker and import the
video into SB3.0

Try making sure the capture drive is available.
In the capture module, go to options, preferences, disk management.

I realize I am replying to an old message, but thank you. I switched from 98 to XP and added a new HD, and my capture directory was moved and couldn't get vid cap to work. Changed the directory and everything works fine now. Thanks again.
